Possible Usage Scenarios

Microsoft Excel allows you to change the display label of the OLE object as shown in the following screenshot. You can also access or modify the display label of the OLE object using Aspose.Cells APIs with the GetLabel() and SetLabel(const U16String& value) methods.

Please see the following sample code; it loads the sample Excel file that contains the OLE object. The code accesses the OLE object and changes its Label from Sample APIs to Aspose APIs. Please see the console output given below, which shows the effect of the sample code on the sample Excel file for reference.

Gocpp: Extract OLE Objects from Workbook with Golang via C++

Sometimes, you need to extract OLE objects from a workbook. Aspose.Cells supports extracting and saving those OLE objects.

This article shows how to create a console application in Visual Studio and extract different OLE objects from a workbook with a few simple lines of code.

Extract OLE Objects from a Workbook

Creating a Template Workbook

Create a workbook in Microsoft Excel.

Add a Microsoft Word document, an Excel workbook, and a PDF document as OLE objects on the first worksheet.

Template document with OLE objects (OleFile.xls)

Next, extract the OLE objects and save them to the hard disk with their respective file types.

Download and Install Aspose.Cells

Download Aspose.Cells for C++.

Install it on your development computer.

All Aspose components, when installed, work in evaluation mode. Evaluation mode has no time limit, and the components only inject watermarks into produced documents.

Create a Project

Start Visual Studio and create a new console application. This example will show a C++ console application.

Add References

Add a reference to the Aspose.Cells component to your project, for example, add a reference to
...\Program Files\Aspose\Aspose.Cells\Bin\Net1.0\Aspose.Cells.dll
.

Extract OLE Objects

The code below does the actual work of finding and extracting OLE objects. The OLE objects (DOC, XLS, and PDF files) are saved to disk.

Gocpp: Get or Set the Class Identifier of the Embedded OLE Object with Golang via C++

Possible Usage Scenarios

Aspose.Cells provides the OleObject.GetClassIdentifier() property, which you can use to get or set the class identifier of an embedded OLE object. OLE object class identifiers are actually GUIDs, i.e., Globally Unique Identifiers. GUIDs are always 16 bytes long; therefore, class identifiers are also 16 bytes long. They are often found inside the Windows Registry and provide information to the host application about how to open embedded OLE objects containing various embedded resources inside the client application.

Get or Set the Class Identifier of the Embedded OLE Object

The following screenshot shows the OLE object class identifier, i.e., GUID, which has been read from the sample Excel file containing the embedded PowerPoint OLE object.

Sample Code

Please see the following sample code, executed with the sample Excel file, and its console output, which prints the class identifier of the OLE object, i.e., GUID. The printed GUID is exactly the same as shown in the screenshot.

Console Output

This is the console output of the above sample code when executed with the sample Excel file.

DC020317-E6E2-4A62-B9FA-B3EFE16626F4

Aspose.Cells provides the OleObject.GetAutoLoad() property to refresh the OLE object when the Excel file is opened in Microsoft Excel. Because of this property, the OLE object will display the correct OLE image generated by Microsoft Excel.

The following sample code loads the sample Excel file (5115231.xlsx), which has a non‑real OLE image. The OLE object is actually a Microsoft Word document, but the sample Excel file shows the animal image instead of the Microsoft Word image. However, if you open the output Excel file (5115225.xlsx), you will see Microsoft Excel displays the correct OLE image.
