Possible Usage Scenarios

Sometimes, one pivot table uses another pivot table as a data source, so it is called a child pivot table or nested pivot table. You can find the children pivot tables of a parent pivot table using the PivotTable.getChildren() method.

Find and Refresh the Nested or Child Pivot Tables of Parent Pivot Table

The following sample code loads the sample Excel file that contains three pivot tables. The bottom two pivot tables are the children of the above pivot table as shown in this screenshot. The code finds the children pivot tables using the PivotTable.getChildren() method and then refreshes them one by one.

Java: Get Pivot Table refresh date and refresh by who information

Aspose.Cells now supports fetching the refresh date and refresh by who information from a workbook.

PivotTable.getRefreshDate returns the date on which the PivotTable report was last refreshed. Similarly PivotTable.getRefreshByWho property returns the name of the user who refreshed the report last time. Following example demonstrates this feature and sample file can be downloaded from the following link.

Aspose.Cells now supports refreshing and calculating a pivot table having calculated items. Please use PivotTable.refreshData() and PivotTable.calculateData() as usual to perform this function.

Refresh and Calculate Pivot Table having Calculated Items

The following sample code loads the source Excel file which contains a pivot table having three calculated items such as “add”, “div”, and “div2”. We first change the value of cell D2 to 20, and then refresh and calculate the pivot table using Aspose.Cells APIs, and save the workbook in PDF format. The results in the output PDF show that Aspose.Cells refreshed and calculated the pivot table having calculated items successfully. You can verify it using Microsoft Excel by manually setting the value 20 in cell D2 and then refreshing the pivot table via the Alt+F5 shortcut key or by clicking the Refresh button on the pivot table.
