Markdown Converter – Convert Markdown in Python

Use Converter.convert_markdown() to convert Markdown or MD files to HTML. To create PDF, DOCX, or image output, convert Markdown to an HTMLDocument, select save options for the target format, and pass the document to Converter.convert_html().

Markdown is a lightweight plain-text format widely used for documentation, README files, notes, and technical content. Aspose.HTML for Python via .NET converts Markdown to HTML and uses the resulting document to create PDF, DOCX, XPS, PNG, JPG, and other supported outputs.

How Markdown Conversion Works

The conversion workflow depends on the target format:

1. Provide a Markdown file to Converter.convert_markdown().
2. Use the returned HTMLDocument directly when HTML is the required result.
3. For PDF, DOCX, XPS, or images, create the corresponding save-options object.
4. Pass the HTMLDocument, save options, and output path to Converter.convert_html().

The following example converts a Markdown file to PDF with the default PDF settings:
